Sukhbir Badal to contest Vidhan Sabha poll from Jalalabad
Jalalabad, March 14, 2021: Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday announced that he will contest the 2022 Punjab Assembly Poll from Jalalabad segment. He made the announcement during the ‘PunjabMangaJawaab’ Akali Rally organized in Jalalabad.
“Today, I will announce the first candidate from SAD for Punjab Assembly poll in the first rally of Punjab MangdaJawaad. Sukhbir Singh Badal will contest from Jalalabad,” he announced.
It is to be mentioned that Sukhbir has earlier contested by the Jalalabad constituency in 2009. After winning election from the segment, he was appointed deputy chief minister Punjab.
While addressing the gathering, Sukhbir criticized the Congress-led state government for not carrying out any development work in the state in last four years, shutting the projects started by them, increases tax or different products and services.
He said that the latter will be held accountable for their misdoings following the change of leadership in Punjab.
He further defended the party on holy book sacrilege row.
“Do you believe that a party like Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) a party which is more than 100 years old, with a rich history can disrespect holy Guru Granth Sahib? The Congress and AAP party plotted against us,” said.
Sukhbir also made several promises if their party comes to power after 2022 Punjab Assembly Polls.
“The first thing SAD will do after coming to power is abolish the three farm laws that were cleared by Captain Amarinder led assembly. The three farm laws will never be imposed in Punjab until SAD stays in power.
He also announced that the children from the SC and BC community will get free education in the state, that the government will also bear the expenses of their college education.
Sukhbir further promised to reduce the power tariff for domestic consumers to half in the state. In addition to this, he said that the SAD party will provide MSP to the fruit growers and milk suppliers.
He also announced to establish the commission center of Ahartiyas. The SAD chief also promises tube-well connections and government jobs.
