Ludhiana : DC orders complete ban on elective surgeries in the district due to COVID-19 conditions
Ludhiana, March 19, 2021 : Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner has imposed a complete ban on elective surgeries in the district due to Corona conditions prevailing in the district.
In orders issued in this regard, it was said that in view of the need of the critical care for covid in near future as per expert advice, the ICU facilities in Ludhiana need to be reserved for covid patients only. Hence keeping in view larger public interest and to save precious human lives, the elective surgeries planned from 19.03.2021 in district Ludhiana are deferred beyond 31.03.2021 till further orders. All the hospitals in the district shall adhere to it and any complaint received in this regard shall be taken seriously and action will be initiated under NDMA Act, 2005 and epidemic disease Act, 1897.
It also said that India as well as Punjab is experiencing resurgence of Covid-19 cases recently. The number of cases and associated fatalities is rising very fast in the state. Ludhiana being the hub of medical facility, whole state including nearby districts of Haryana, Himachal Pardesh etc rush to Ludhiana for critical care.
