SAD (Democratic) calls emergency meeting soon to discuss the fallout of the High Court judgement in Kotkapura firing case
Mohali, April 10, 2021:
President, Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic) and Rajya Sabha member, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has called an emergency meeting of the senior party leaders on Monday, April 12 at the party headquarters in Sector 82, Mohali.
Divulging details about the meeting, SAD (Democratic) Chief Spokesperson, Senior Vice President of the party and former Deputy Speaker Bir Davinder Singh said that the emergency meeting is being called to review the situation arising out of Punjab and Haryana High Court's decision announced on Friday regarding shooting incident in Kotkapura in connection with the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari in the year 2015.
“It is unfortunate that Badal family and Capt. Amarinder Singh and his government is working hand in gloves to bury the issue of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari and subsequent police firing on innocent Sikhs who were protesting against the Bargari incident. It is becoming hard for the Sikh community to get justices", he said.
He said that the way Punjab Government's lawyers have surrendered in the Court, without emphatically arguing on the facts, points towards a deeper conspiracy being ploted against the Sikh community.
Bir Davinder Singh further said that in the emergency meeting of the party, the variety of important issues would be discussed; such as the preparations are being done to celebrate the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib which commence on May 1, 2021. Besides this, discussion on other important issues would also be held in the meeting, Bir Devinder Singh told the media.
