Mohali DC explains, why Dhakoli declared as containment zone
Mohali, April 13, 2021:
Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan today explained that why the COVID hotspot town of district, Dhakoli, has been declared as containment zone. The DC issued a statement today where he answered the questions, being put up by the residents.
1. Why has Dhakoli been declared a containment zone?
- For your safety and to break the chain of transmission. 435 cases which are abnormally high have been reported from Dhakoli alone.
2. What will happen now?
- You are required to remain at home. Testing and vaccination teams will be reaching you shortly.
Essential goods and commodities like milk and ration will be available and shall not close. You will be allowed to purchase the same. Food packets in relief to those who are poor will be provided free of cost. You cannot leave the perimeter of the containment zone. The containment plan is being published for your information.
3. What is the strategy of the Administration?
- The containment zone has been divided in to 10 areas to speed up testing. Testing and vaccination teams have already been deployed. There will be 100 % testing. Those testing negative will be vaccinated. Those testing positive will require isolation and will be recommended appropriate care and medical attention. As and when a team screens an area and it is determined that the area is safe, the containment in that particular area will be lifted.
4. How long will this last?
- It is a temporary but critical intervention for your safety and the safety of others. As soon as the team finishes its work, containment will be lifted in stages. Please cooperate with the team. This is not a long term measure and there is no need to panic.
I urge all of you to please cooperate. A 24*7 control room has also been set up in the office of the SDM Derabassi. Dial 01762-528116 in case of any assistance. We are here to keep you safe. Please wear masks, sanitize hands and cooperate with the testing and vaccination teams. We will together achieve a Dhakoli that is safe for all.
