Kunwar Vijay Pratap makes major announcement on his resignation (Watch Video)
Chandigarh, April 16, 2021: IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh on Friday announced that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has agreed to accept his resignation from the service as well the SIT investigating the Kotkapura incident.
“In the past few days, I had several meetings with Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh. During all those meetings, he tried to convince me to continue with the service but I have now succeeded in convincing him on my resignation,” informed Kunwar Vijay Pratap.
“I have also assured CM Captain Amarinder that if the government requires any help during the investigation, I will extend help possible in my personal capacity,” he added
The officer gave this information following his meeting with Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore that ended at around 11:30 pm. The officer said that his meeting with Governor was a personal visit.
"I visit Governor VP Singh Badnore every month in a private capacity, not as a public official," Kunwar Vijay Pratap said.
While speaking to the media, the officer also responded on the demand of making his investigation report public.,
"The report of the investigation carried by me is already in the public domain. It was submitted in the court in the form of challan. Those who are making such demand don't have knowledge that it is already in public," he said.
On April 11, Kunwar Vijay Pratap tendered submitted application for voluntary retirement which was rejected by Punjab CM.
"The state needs the expertise and experience of the officer, who has contributed exceptional service to the Punjab Police in various important positions, said the Chief Minister, describing Kunwar Vijay Pratap as a skilled, capable and courageous officer, with an exemplary track record," CM has said while rejecting his application.
