Citing farmer agitation, Home Ministry directs Chief Secretary Pb. to provide adequate security of RSS and BJP leaders in state
Chandigarh, April 27, 2021: In an interesting development, Home Ministry Government of India has directed Chief Secretary Punjab to provide adequate security to seven leaders of BJP and RSS in state in keeping in view security threat to them in wake of farmer agitation.
In a letter written to Chief Secretary, Rajiv Sharma Deputy Secretary (VS) Home Minister has send names of seven leaders which include Iqbal Singh Ahluwalia President RSS Punjab unit, Harjit Grewal Senior Vice President BJP Punjab, Iqbal Singh Lalpura National Spokesman BJP, Tarun Chugh National General Secretary BJP, Ashwani Sharma President BJP Punjab, Shwait Malik MP and former President BJP Punjab and Bhushan Bedi former President RSS Punjab.
The reasons for each leader of threat perception has been explained separately due to so called Khalistan supporters, farmer leaders and farmer agitation besides other factors.
For Lalpura, it has been mentioned that he was DIG in Punjab Police and had arrested Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale besides his role in police functioning. Similarly events where BJP or RSS leaders were gheraoed or stopped have been separately mentioned in the letter.
In this letter Chief Secretary has been asked to provide adequate security to them.
