Mohali, April 27, 2021:
The Civil Hospital in Phase 6, which has now been converted into ‘COVID Hospital’, is functioning with limited staff as its 10 doctors, 16 staff nurses and two paramedical staff members have been tested positive for COVID-19.
In such a situation, staff members of the hospital are facing a lot of pressure as the dealing with patients becomes quite tough. It is also to be mentioned here around 400 persons visit the district hospital for COVID testing every day. In addition to this, over 1,000 persons visit the hospital for getting vaccine shots in the PHSC building.
As per the health department, some of the doctors have been cured and will be back to duty within a few days.
Interestingly, four health workers including three health care workers of Civil Hospital, Mohali and a front line worker of Civil Hospital, Lalru, tested positive for COVID-19 last month despite getting a second dose of Covishield vaccine.
The hospital authorities have increased its bed capacity from 60 to 100 in a bid to make the hospital as ‘COVID Hospital’. The OPDs and emergency ward of the hospital have also been shifted to the ESI Hospital in Industrial Area Phase 7 here.
