Mohali police issues nearly 800 challans against violators of COVID norms
Mohali, May 2, 2021:
The district police have launched a special drive against the violators of COVID norms. Mohali SSP Satinder Singh informed that during the last 24 hours, 798 challans were issued against persons for not wearing masks.
The police have registered 20 FIRs under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
Among these 20 FIRs, nine have been registered against shopkeepers, one each against the owners of hotel, dhaba, and tavern.
SSP Satinder Singh said, “Mohali police appeals to all to kindly stay at your places and avoid coming out unnecessarily. Let's make a combined effort to keep this pandemic at bay. Not much is asked for. It's just that we can contribute in controlling the mushrooming of COVID-19 by keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe at home. We are venturing out day and night just to safeguard our people's health and safety.”
