More shops & establishments allowed to open amid COVID curbs till May 15, Punjab govt issues clarification
Chandigarh, May 4, 2021: After imposing near lockdown curbs in the state two days back, the Punjab government has now allowed more shops and establishments and shops to open in the state during weekdays. Earlier the government has only allowed essential services shops and establishments.
In a clarification issued by the government on Tuesday, it mentioned that all the shops and establishments are allowed to open till 5 pm except the weekend curfew i.e. from 6 pm on Friday till 5 am on Monday.
The government has allowed shops selling fertilizers, insecticides, seeds, agriculture machinery, agriculture/horticulture implements, etc. Similarly, the government has allowed grocery shops including PDS shops. It has also allowed retail and wholesale liquor vends although ahatas are not allowed to open.
Similarly, shops selling industrials material hardware items, tools, motors, pipes, etc. Likewise, the movement of persons on foot or bicycle for permissible purposes is freely allowed. In the case of motorized traffic, valid identity cards may be used.
In case of the absence of identity cards, e-pass needs to be taken in advance and displayed.
