539 Cases Registered Against Curfew Violators in Last One and Half Months
-Strict Action to be Taken Against Those Violating the Curfew
Patiala, May 5, 2021: A flag march led by District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit and SSP Mr Vikram Jeet Duggal, was taken out in the city this evening to sensitise the people of the grim situation of the COVID.
District Magistrate Mr. Kumar Amit appealed to the people to cooperate with the district administration during the curfew imposed to curb the spread of COVID and ensure strict compliance to the instructions issued by the state government. SSP Mr Vikram Jeet Duggal warned that if the people violated the curfew then strict action would be taken as per law. He said that 539 cases have been registered against the offenders who have violated the orders of the District Magistrate during the last one and half months.
Led by senior officials of the civil and police administration, the flag march started from Lila Bhawan Chowk. Passing through 22 Number Railway Overbridge, Bhupindra Road, Fountain Chowk, Sai Market, Dharmapura Bazar, Anardana Chowk, Sheranwala Gate, Bus Stand, Khanda Chowk, Tripuri, Anand Nagar, Sidhu Colony, Thapar College and other major city roads, it concluded at Leela Bhawan. The only message that was delivered through the flag march, was to make people aware of the seriousness of the COVID pandemic as well as to prevent them from violating the curfew and other restrictions, said SSP Mr Duggal.
Kumar Amit said that this flag march was organized to create awareness among the people in view of the increasing cases of COVID. "Through the flag march, we have conveyed the message regarding guidelines issued by the government to ensure the wearing of masks and stay at homes besides maintaining social distance," he said. He appealed to the people to ensure strict compliance of the orders issued by the Punjab Government, health department and district administration or else the administration would take strict action.
Interacting with reporters, he said that though the government has given exemptions to the shops of essential commodities and services, the people should exercise restraint and support the administration to get rid of this epidemic.
SSP Mr. Vikram Jeet Duggal said though the police was doing its best to prevent the people from the deadly virus and always in the field for the safety of the people but the people should also abide by the law by staying in their homes. Meanwhile, S P City Mr. Varun Sharma, SDM Mr. Charanjit Singh, DSP Yogesh Kumar, DSP Saurav Jindal were present.
