Punjab receives 1 lakh dose of vaccine for Construction workers: Balbir Sidhu

Punjab has received 1 lakh dose of COVID vaccination from centre to be used for construction workers (18-45 years) only. This was stated by health minister Balbir Sidhu while inaugurating vaccination for construction workers from Mohali on Monday.
Sidhu inaugurated the vaccination program from the Health and Wellness Centre at Phase 7 here, where construction workers got jabs after registering themselves on the spot.
Talking to media persons, Balbir Sidhu said, “We have started the vaccination for our ‘work force’ today and for the same, we recently got 1 lakh dose from the centre. The dose will be distributed among the districts as per the population and positivity rate. We have started it from Mohali. I hope the construction workers as well as residents will come forward for the vaccine.”
The health minister added that Mohali district was presently on top as the district administered maximum vaccination to the residents.
On the issue of the medical oxygen crisis, he said that the central government has assured them of providing 300 MT of medical oxygen every day. “I hope it will help the patients who are fighting with the disease in all the districts here. At present, the state has sufficient oxygen for the admitted patients. If the situation worsens, then it might be a problem for us,” said the health minister.
He also said that a medical oxygen plant will be set-up at the medical college of Mohali soon to meet the demands of oxygen shortage.
