Ludhiana: 13006 samples taken for COVID-19; Recovery rate reaches at 80%
Ludhiana, May 12, 2021:
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today informed that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured in district Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 12278 active patients in the district at present.
He said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid-19. He said that a total of 1341 patients (1215 new patients from district Ludhiana and 126 from other states/districts) have tested positive in the last 24 hours.
He further said that till date, a total of 1102677 samples have been taken, out of which a report of 1102225 samples have been received, of which 1021750 samples were found negative while reports of 452 samples were pending. He said that now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 71066, while 9409 patients belong to other districts/states.
He said that unfortunately, 37 patients lost their lives on Wednesday (28 from district Ludhiana, 2 from Moga, 2 Barnala, 3 Sangrur while one each from districts Fatehgarh Sahib and Hoshiarpur). Now, the total number of persons who lost their lives from Ludhiana are 1638 while 824 from other districts.
He said that whenever the District Administration and Health Department Ludhiana finds out about any positive or suspected COVID 19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 13006 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma appealed to the residents to adhere all the safety protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands frequently of the Punjab government to not only save themselves but keeping everyone around safe.
