Summer vacations in Delhi District Courts preponed
New Delhi, May 14, 2021:
Delhi High Court has preponed summer vacations of Delhi District Courts. Now the vacations will start from 17th May 2021 instead of 14th June 2021.
As per the official order issued on Friday, the decision has been taken in view of the alarming rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and its consequent toll on the health and lives of the judicial officers and staff of the District judiciary.
Earlier the vacations were scheduled to start from 14th June and end on 30th June, 2021. Modifying the same, Full Court has decided to declare summer vacations from 17th May 2021 till 3rd June, 2021. However, the vacations for courts of Metropolitan Magistrates shall end on 27th May, 2021.
The orders of the High Court also states that the existing system of hearing in Delhi District Courts shall continue till 30th June, 2021. It is also worthy to note that the official order issued on 19th April, 2021 directed the subordinate courts to adjourn all the matters en-bloc except the urgent matters. The said order was effective till 15th May, 2021.
