Sidhu targets Badals, questions need of SIT for probing sacrilege incidents
Chandigarh, May 15, 2021: Senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday questioned the need for the SIT for investigating Guru Granth Sahib's sacrilege incidents and firing cases.
Sidhu who is quite vocal on social media against the delay in justice in sacrilege incidents said that thousands of cases are solved by Punjab Police on daily basis, none requires an SIT or Inquiry Commission. I have elaborated the role of Badals behind Sacrilege, Behbal Kalan & Kotkapura firing multiple times.
He further targeted the veteran Akali leader and former chief minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Badal on the sacrilege incidents. Sharing an old clip where he is siding Capt Amarinder Singh stating people have faith that Amarinder will bring them justice in sacrilege cases, he is seen lashing out on Badals.
In the video clip, Sidhu is seen asking Badals to tell the public whether or not they gave orders to fire on innocent public? The senior Congress leader further stressed on bringing justice to the victims and giving harsh punishment to those who are found guilty.
In the video clip, he further questions Parkash Badal on admitting that the Dera Premis (Dera Sacha Sauda followers) were behind the incidents as the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission Report reveals.
“The Badals now speak about communal harmony. They should be questioned which Hindu or Muslim has objected to them. Only Sikh community is objecting to you, holding you responsible for the incidents. If they (Badals) have anything to speak in their defense, they should come forward,” he said.
On May 13, Sidhu had twitted on the similar lines.
“Why after 6 Yrs we are still awaiting another Investigation by a SIT. Since cognizable evidence is available- Why not immediately arrest the main accused?? Police can easily take action in normal course! Statement from 2018, visiting families of victims with Senior Party Leaders,” he tweeted earlier.
It is to mention that the Punjab government has formed a new SIT for probing Kotkapura firing cases as per the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court. Last month, HC has quashed the SIT formed by Capt Amarinder government and directed them to formed a new SIT and directed to complete the investigation by preferably in six months.
