Mohali, May 17, 2021:
Mohali residents are facing quite difficulty getting their jabs due to limited stock of COVID vaccine dose. As per the information, after administering 1861 shots to residents on Monday, the district is left with nearly 4,000 doses of COVID vaccine. The health department is not even not sure when the district is getting new stock.
Talking to Babushahi, civil surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur said, “Presently, we have only 4,000 vaccine doses, which we received from the state government recently. The stock provided by the central government has already finished.”
Notably, the special Vaccination Drive-Thru, started by the district administration last week to provide free vaccine facility to residents (above 45) in their cars, has also been halted due to shortage of vaccine. The drive thru was started in two sites of the district – The Piccadilia Café in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) and District Sports Complex in Sector 78. The drive-thru, despite getting overwhelming response from the residents, remained operational for just three days – May 12 to14.
Mohali Additional Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said, “The drive-thru was halted due to shortage of vaccine in the district. We will resume it when vaccine availability is better. In three days, nearly 1100 people got vaccinated.”
