Roll back hike in prices of DAP and Petrol, demands Kisan Morcha
New Delhi, May 18, 2021: Samyukat Kisan Morcha today demanded immediate roll back of hike in prices of DAP and Petrol effected by the Government of India.
In a joint statement issued here today, SKM leaders Balbir Singh Rajewal, Dr Darshan Pal, Gurnam Singh Charuni, Hannan Mollah, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Yudhvir Singh, Yogendra Yadav and Abhimanyu Kohad said that on one hand MSP has been increased only a little, the agricultural input cost is increasing on a large scale.
They said that important chemical fertilizer Dye Ammonium Phosphate or DAP has become very expensive for farming. They said that the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative (IFFCO) of the cooperative sector has increased the price of 50 kg of DAP fertilizer by 58.33 per cent. Till last month, the bag, which was available for Rs 1,200 has now been priced at Rs 1,900. Now bags with this price only has arrived in the market.
They said that the rising price of DAP and diesel is primarily a symbol of the dismantling of MSP. The input cost in agriculture is increasing and the farmer is not getting the fair price of the crop. The policy of evicting farmers by putting them at a loss is becoming clear. We demand the government to withdraw the increased rate immediately.
They said that through three agricultural laws, the government has tried to abolish the Minimum Support Price MSP system and in the coming time, there is a plan to officially abolish the MSP as well. They said that under the pressure of the current farmers movement, the government could not abolish the MSP directly, but indirectly the government is making every efforts to end the MSP.
