Young doctor sets new benchmark of public service by donating five O2 Concentrators to BFUHS
Faridkot, May 26, 2021: In a rare example of human service, an assistant professor from local Guru Gobind Singh a Medical today donated five 10 litre Oxygen concentrators, from his own resources, to the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) for helping the needy patients to cope up with the shortage of Oxygen amidst COVID crisis.
Dr. Manraj Kang, a fourth generation Doctor, is Assistant Professor Radiation Oncology Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot and has taken the help of his NRI uncle from USA to procure these Oxygen concentrators, the value of which was around Rs 1 lakh each. The doctor had seen people striving hard for the Oxygen concentrators due to which he had decided to channelize his own resources to give a healing touch to people in this hour of crisis. This comes at a time when there is an acute shortage of the Oxygen concentrators due to the surge in cases of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Handing over the concentrators to Vice Chancellor of BFUHS Dr Raj Bahadur, the Assistant Professor said that this was true service of humanity as people were in dire need of these concentrators. He said that zeal of serving the masses was imbued in their blood as their family has been in medical profession from last four generations as his Great grand father was Major Dr. Sawan Singh Kang , his grand father Dr. Mohinder Singh Kang was former Director Health services Punjab ,his mother Dr. Andesh Kang is Director Health Services (family welfare) Punjab and father Dr. Rajbir Singh Kang has served as former District Health Officer Mohali adding that even his wife Dr. Taranjeet kaur was Senior Resident Radiodiagnosis Guru Gobind Singh Medical College. Dr. Kang said that inspired by his forefathers, he was treading the path shown by his grandfather and mother to give a healing touch to the people in this hour of need adding that this service gives peace of mind to him.
Meanwhile lauding the initiative taken by Dr. Kang, the Vice Chancellor said that it will act as a source of inspiration for others to serve the masses zealously. He said that besides giving reprieve to the masses it will also help in saving several precious lives in the coming future. Dr. Raj Bahadur said that it was the moral duty of all the sections of society to come forward and jointly combat the pandemic so that war against this unseen but formidable enemy was won.
