Mohali: Restriction of odd-even opening of shops lifted, private offices can work with more staff
Mohali, June 1, 2021:
Mohali administration on Tuesday decided to lift the restrictions of staggered rotation (odd-even pattern) of opening of shops.
The deputy commissioner Girish Dayalan announced that all shops can open till 5 pm on weekdays from now onwards. However, proper COVID guidelines have to be followed in all shops, said the DC. Also, the market welfare associations are directed to appoint COVID monitors so that COVID protocol is strictly followed in the markets.
In another relaxation, the administration also allowed all the private offices to work with 50 percent staff. Earlier, they were bound to work with 33 percent staff only.
“We had a meeting with traders, stakeholders and other officials to discuss about giving relaxations in the restrictions. The traders put several demands before us. It was not possible to fulfill all their demands. But we have decided to remove the condition of odd-even pattern for opening of shops. Also, the private offices can work with 50% staff now,” said Girish Dayalan while adding that “the decision has been taken in view of decreasing COVID cases in the district.”
The DC also informed that the administration can provide more relaxations in future if the downward trend of COVID cases continues in Mohali.
The DC tweeted, “Restriction of Odd-Even opening of shops in SASNagar, lifted. Private offices can also work with 50% staff. However, don’t lower guard! Adhere to COVID safety protocols. Each market association told to appoint COVIDMonitors to ensure compliance.”
