Punjab Congress Crisis: 3-member panel meets Rahul Gandhi
Chandigarh, June 13, 2021: The three members committee constituted to resolve the difference among Punjab Congress leaders met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at his residence on Sunday.
The meeting reportedly lasted for one hour. It has been learned that the committee members that includes senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Harish Rawat, and JP Agarwal briefed Rahul Gandhi on the findings of the report.
According to sources, the members of the committee explained the recommendations of the committee to Rahul Gandhi in a sequential manner in the meeting.
"In the meeting, there was a detailed discussion about the role of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Pargat Singh, State President Sunil Jakhar. The members of the committee also apprised Rahul Gandhi about the public statements made by Pargat Singh even after the meeting of the committee," the source informed.
According to sources, Pargat Singh has been reprimanded by in-charge Harish Rawat for his public statements. It is also being said that if Pargat does not stop, then disciplinary action can be taken against him.
The committee told Rahul Gandhi that even the workers and leaders are angry due to the absence of a congressional committee in the state. The committee also apprised Rahul about the role of state president Sunil Jakhar.
Rahul Gandhi reportedly heard the recommendations of the committee regarding Sidhu but did not give any reply. Congress leadership will take a decision on the Punjab report soon.
