Smart Village Scheme: 1462 projects costing over 100 crore sanctioned for Mohali district: ADC
Work underway regarding 1140 projects; Rs 58 crore spent
Developmental projects costing Rs 30.55 crore under Punjab Urban Environment Improvement program

Under the Smart Village Scheme Phase - 2, 1462 projects costing Rs 103 crore were sanctioned and from these projects work is underway regarding 1140 projects and till now Rs 58 crore has been spent on these projects. This was disclosed by Ashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) here at District Administrative Complex while presiding over the meeting regarding the assessment of various developmental schemes.
The ADC further disclosed that under Punjab Urban Environment Improvement program Phase -2, 87 developmental projects costing Rs 30.55 crore were planned and from these work had been started regarding 63 projects and till near about 4.40 crore had been spent on these.
Ashika Jain had further disclosed that till now 5,525 UDID cards had been provided to the eligible beneficiaries.
She directed the officials of various departments to provide benefits of all the government schemes to eligible beneficiaries and also to complete all the development projects within time.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the state government had launched the smart village scheme for the overall development of the villages and large numbers of development projects were underway in various villages of the district.
Sewage system, development of ponds and lanes, parks, playgrounds and stadiums, gymnasium, community halls, gram sabha halls, street lights, CCTV camera installation, bus shelters, school, dispensary etc. are key projects of this scheme.
Ashika Jain said that to make significant improvement in the infrastructure of the cities and lives of people Punjab Urban Environment Improvement program, Phase -2 was launched.
The programme was palying a vital role in the development of state-of-the-art urban infrastructure and efficient service delivery systems to the urban population, thus making urbanisation impactful. Water supply, sewrage, cleaning of drains and projects for overall development of the cities are the part of this scheme.
''Government is providing UDID cards to Divyang people so that they can avail the benefits of various schemes. To avail this card Divyang people can register on http://www.swavlambancard.gov.in/
through their PC, Cyber Cafe, Gram Suvidha Kendra, Sewa Kendra, Camps organised by the Social Security Department. Divyang people having Divyangta Certificate can avail UDID cards." said Jain.
During this Rajiv Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Kamal Garg, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Mohali and various officials of different departments were also present.
