Punjab Govt allows reopening of Universities
Chandigarh, June 29, 2021: In a major relief to the students as well as the teachers, the Punjab Government has allowed the reopening of Universities in the state conditional to the staff and students have taken at least one dose of vaccine, begining from July 1.
In the wake of the decline in the number of COVID-19 cases, Captain Amarinder Singh led the Punjab government to announce the reopening of certain establishments provided that COVID preventive norms are followed.
In addition to the Universities, the Skill Development Centers have also been allowed to reopen in the state. The condition for reopening skill development centers is the same as Universities.
It is worth mentioning that various student organizations have been demanding the government for the reopening of colleges and universities.
In March, the Punjab Students’ Union (PSU) has condemned the decision of the government to shut the colleges and Universities and demanded its reopening.
Earlier the state government has also allowed the reopening of IELTS coaching institutes subject to students and staff have taken at least one dose of vaccine.
