People of villages adjoining Singhu Border to stage protest; demand opening of one side of highway
Local residents of villages, adjoining Singhu Border, on Sunday announced that they would hold a peaceful march on July 21 in a bid to open one side of the highway, which has been blocked since November amid Kisan Morcha.
The people of 35 village panchayats, Resident Welfare Associations’ presidents, petrol pump employees and Industrial Union held a meeting on Sunday where it was decided that to open one side of the highway, a peaceful protest against the government was required.
Hemant Nandal, who was present at this meeting, said that around 1500 people would take part in this peaceful march. The march will start from KMP and will end at the Singhu Border, he said.
He added that the local residents were suffering a lot since the farmers’ agitation started. He said the condition of localites is now like migrants and most of the people are not coming out of their houses amid the protest at the highway.
