Chandigarh: Govt ITIs & Skill Development Centres to reopen from this date

Chandigarh, July 14, 2021: In view of the decline of the COVID-19 cases, the UT Chandigarh Administration has decided the reopen the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Sector 28, Chandigarh, and Government Industrial Training Institute for Women in Sector 11, Chandigarh along with the Chandigarh and Skill Development Centers under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) from July 19 onwards.
The UT Administration has however led down some conditions for the reopening and physical functioning of these institutes:
Both of the Government and ITIs and Skill Development Centres under PMKVY to be open with the prior permission of Director Technical Education, UT Chandigarh.
Similarly, an undertaking is required to be submitted to the concerned Principals/HODs to the effect that all the teaching, non-teaching, and eligible students have been administered at least one dose of COVID vaccination at least two weeks ago.
All the heads of ITIs and Skill Development Centres have also been instructed to ensure compliance with the instruction and SOPs issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, MOHFW, Government of India, and Chandigarh administration from time to time.
“Wearing of masks, sanitization of campus, proper social distancing, and other necessary precautions are to be ensured,” read the orders issued by Chandigarh administration.
The order further said that students below 18 can attend the class with the consent of their parents.
“Online teaching will continue and classroom attendance will be mandatory for the students,” the orders further read.
