Zirakpur police solves two major cases by arresting 6
Mohali, August 9, 2021:
Zirakpur police claimed to have cracked two cases, reported in the recent past, with the arrest of six persons.
In the first case, the police have arrested three robbers, who snatched a car and Rs 25,000 on gunpoint from Aerocity road here from a Sector 66 resident Vijay Kumar on June 24.
The suspects have been identified as Jaspreet Singh (24) of village Kiratpur in Rupnagar, Jaswinder Singh (32) of Fatehpur in Rupnagar and Gurpreet Singh (23) of Kiratpur Sahib in Rupnagar.
Mohali SSP Satinder Singh informed the police all three suspects involved in the crime. The Toyota Etios and the gun used in the crime were also recovered by the police. Zirakpur Station House officer (SHO), Onkar Singh Brar said that the trio was produced before the court, which sent them to three-day police remand.
The incident of carjacking was reported on June 24. The victim, Vijay Sharma was opening a new store at the City Centre on the Aerocity road. He came to Zirakpur on the night of June 24 for some work. While he was returning to Mohali from Zirakpur, he got out of his car to answer nature's call. When he came near the car, two men pulled out their pistols and threatened him to sit inside the car. Sharma was asked to drive the car towards the Airport side by the miscreants. The duo then threatened him to hand over the cash (Rs 25,000) from him. Later, they took him towards the Morinda side and dumped him on the road before fleeing in his car.
Meanwhile, Zirakpur police also solved the robbery case, where four armed men robbed cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20,000 cash after holding a family hostage at Sharma Estate, Lohgarh, in Zirakpur on July 22 .
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Satinder Singh, six persons were involved in this crime. Captain Oram Kapil (29) was found to be the main accused and he was working as a carpenter at the victim’s house four years back and was fully aware that the house owner works in a bank and always keeps cash at home. A car and a motorcycle, used in the crime, have also been recovered by the police. The three accused are still at large and will be nabbed soon with the robbed jewellery, said the SSP.
The accused have been identified as Captain Oram Kapil (29), a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and is presently, residing in Sector 45, Chandigarh, Naseem Ahmed (31), resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and presently residing in Gurdev Nagar in Bhabat (Zirakpur) and Javed Ahmed (30), resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and presently staying in Sector 45 of Chandigarh.
Zirakpur SHO, Onkar Singh Brar said, “It came to the fore that during the incident, two men were in the car, while the rest were on motorcycles. The trio was produced before the court, which sent them to three-day police remand.”
