Zirakpur police seizes cannabis assignment worth Rs 3.1 crore, arrests 2

Mohali, August 12, 2021:
Zirakpur police seized 10 quintals 35 kg Cannabis, being transported in a mini truck, worth Rs 3.1 crore with the arrest of two persons.
The suspects have been identified as Suraj Kumar (20), a resident of Hardoi (UP) and Jawaharlal (31), a resident of Samastipur in Bihar.
A special team of police led by SP (rural) Ravjot Kaur Grewal, DSP Amroj Singh and Inspector Onkar Singh took an action to nab drug peddlers. On August 11, a blockade was laid by Police Party under supervision of SI Ajit Singh. In the meantime, a mini truck was searched and a consignment of 10 quintals 35 kg of cannabis was recovered valuing Rs 3,10,50,000 (Rs Three Crore Ten Lakhs and Fifty Thousand only). The cops immediately nabbed Suraj and Jawaharlal.
During the investigation, the police also identified four more suspects involved in this illegal drug trade.
A case under Sections 20/61/85 of the NDPS Act was registered at the Zirakpur Police Station.
There are likely to be many more links and important revelations in this consignment of drugs are expected shortly.
