Chandigarh, August 14, 2021: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday gave clarification on the fake tweet circulating on Twitter in his name. The viral tweet emerged after Capt met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah in Delhi two days ago.
The tweet claims that Capt termed farmers ‘Pro Khalistani’ during his meeting with Narendra Modi.
“Pro Khalistani and Pro Pakistan elements have hijacked farmers protest, protestors are only spreading COVID-19 and not contributing in the development of Punjab,” read the viral graphic image with Punjab CM photo. The image is being widely shared on the social media.
On Saturday, Capt Amarinder took to Twitter to give clarification on the matter in a video message.
In a video message, “Some anti-social elements circulating a tweet on my name claiming that I have called farmers Pro Khalistani and Pro Pakistani elements. This is a conspiracy of some elements to mislead people. Do not fall for it. From day 1, I have spoken in support of farmers. My government has always stood by farmers. During my meeting PM and Amit Shah, I have asked them to repeal farm bills. I once again ensure you all that I stand with my farmers and will always extend every possible support to them,” he said in the video.
“Any attempt to dilute or defame the farmers pious struggle with motivated propaganda will be strongly dealt with. I have always stood with our farmers and will do that until we get these laws repealed,” he tweeted
