Chandigarh, August 15, 2021: Navjot Singh Sidhu, President Punjab Congress on Sunday promised increase in the party ticket to Youth Congress by one and half times than what was allotted to them in last assembly elections.
Sidhu announced this while addressing Youth Congress members during the Independence Day function at Congress Bhawan. His speech received a rousing welcome from the Youth Congress worker.
“I want to change this system that does injustice to people, restrict the power into the hands of some people. I have come to change this system that does not value patriotism, people who love Punjab, and workers who are diligently working for the party. Youth are like gems who if put and used in the right way can brighten everything. I promise that this time Youth will get more tickets than the last time,” he added.
He said that this is very crucial for us to make the youth realize their value. “Talent is nothing without opportunity. We need to give our youths oppurtunities, skills, sports. Talents from Punjab like Kapil Sharma and Bharti Singh have also worked for Rs 200 and now they earn in crores. Its all about the oppurtunies," he said.
“Sidhu will be successful only when there will be Youth Congress leader from 117 constituencies of Punjab. I will always stand by the Congress workers,” said Sidhu aiming the boost the morale of the Youth Congress workers.
“Jhuktey hai Parbat bhi kahi kahi, Ruktey hai Darya bhi Khi Khi….Bas Rukti Nahi Rawaniya Aur Jhukti Nahi Jawaniya,” said Punjab Congress chief addressing the Youth Congress workers.
“At this historic event, I came with an important message. It was due to the great leaders like Pandit Jawahar Lal, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, we are here unfurling the Tricolor. It was due to the ideology of Congress and many Congress leaders who fought for freedom, independence was achieved. It is the mother of all the parties. The ideology of those Congress leaders who helped India to achieve freedom and those of present leaders is very different. Today's political leaders are all about power, business, and family politics,” he said.
Commenting on the Hindu-Sikh unity in the state and some elements attempting to disrupt it, he said “Punjab Hindu Na Musalman, Punjab Zeeinda Guruan De Naam.”
Sidhu also spoke on the existing unemployment in Punjab, farmers' agitation, issues faced by the daily wage laborers and the common man.
