Divisional Commissioner appreciates initiative of Patiala Association of Deaf to organize COVID Vaccination Camp
Patiala, August 26, 2021: Chander Gaind, Divisional Commissioner, Patiala said that people with special needs and especially those who are deaf and hard of hearing, have a great contribution to make our society progressive and in nation-building, which we always ignore. He said that the people who cannot speak and hear, possess special talents and it is necessary to recognize their talents and contribution to society.
Divisional Commissioner Chander Gaind, was here at State College of Education to inaugurate special camp of Vaccination against COVID, organized by the Patiala Association of the Deaf with the help of Health Department said that the initiative taken by the Association under the leadership of its President Jagdeep Singh has impressed him a lot. He further said that just like Patiala Association of the Deaf that has made the deaf and dumb people aware and got vaccinated them, every citizen should be vaccinated without any hesitation in view of the possibility of a third wave of Covid. He spoke to the deaf and hard of hearing people, including students of all ages, and commended them for their contribution to society and nation-building.
Jagdeep Singh, President of, Patiala Association of the Deaf thanked Chander Gaind for encouraging them and apprised him of the work being done by his association for the welfare of Divyangjans. He said that today the second dose of vaccination was given to these 70 persons with the help of the vaccination team sent by Civil Surgeon Dr Prince Sodhi.
On this occasion, Principal of State College Dr Parminder Singh welcomed Divisional Commissioner Chander Gaind. Apart from Saurabh Singh and Ravinder Kaur, sign language interpreters, volunteers Arshnoor Kaur, Pankaj Kumar, College teachers Dr Deepika Rajpal, Prof. Kiranjit Kaur, Prof. Balwinder Singh, Dr Navneet Jeji, Prof. Rupinder Singh, Prof. Hardeep Saini and other dignitaries were present.
Meanwhile, Chander Gaind asked the District Social Security Officer Varinder Singh Tiwana to make them aware of the Voter Enrolment process so that they can register as Voters, if not enrolled so far.
