Central Govt pensioners oppose proposed pension plan, writes to Jitendra Singh
New Delhi, September 15, 2021: The Central Government Pensioners have opposed the proposed pension plan of the central government which will reportedly stop the pension to the Central Government pensioners after attaining the age of 70-75 years
In a letter to Jitendra Singh, minister of Personnel, PG and Pensions, Transparency Initiative, a Kolkata-based Central Government Pensioners has opposed the plan and termed it ‘disastrous beyond expectation’.
The organisation cited a news report published in Bartaman Patrika, a leading daily of West Bengal that carried a news that reported the proposed plan to the central government to stop the pension of the central government pensioners and after attaining the age of 70-75.
The news reportedly mentions that in place of the regular pensions, the pensioners will be paid ‘Sustenance Allowance’ in the between the rate of 40 to 60 % of their pension till the death of without any D.R thereon.
“Undoubtedly, the proposal of pension planning by the Central government amounts to disastrous beyond expectation to the Central Government Pensioners and family. We request you to desist from the same and for the welfare of the Central Government Pensioners and Family Pensioners including their dependents,,” Transparency Initiative, wrote to the minister.
“It would be a devastating policy of the government because the old age pensioners, family pensioners and their dependents have to face severe consequences to sustain their livelihood and manage their basic necessities in these hard days of living. You are well aware of the fact that the parents are being very often ruthlessly deserted from their offspring due to the changed socio-economic situation of the society. At that juncture, the secured pension or family pension can only help the old aged pensioners and family pensioners to live a sustainable life of the rest part of their life,” the central government pensioners added.
