Mohali DC directs health teams to focus on testing, tracing and vaccination of COVID
Emphasized on Fogging to restrain spreading of vector borne diseases
Random sampling be ensured in hot spots of cholera and diarrhea

Accentuating testing, tracing and vaccination to thwart COVID spreading, the Deputy Commissioner Ms. Isha Kalia asserted that health officials should particularly focus on testing and contact tracing of COVID patients. She added that enhancing the inoculation of the second dose with full vigor also should be in focus as the district is on top with the first dose of vaccination and should remain the same spot, when the question of second dose came up.
During a meeting with health officials to review the COVID Action Plan, Ms. Isha Kalia laid thrust on the complete vaccination with a second dose of all the eligible ones in the district. The Deputy Commissioner accompanied by Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur told the officials that any kind of negligence in this task would be dealt with heavy hands. She added that as per the government's directives all teachers needed to get vaccinated before attending their duty at schools as a measure to ensure the safety of children in educational institutions. She also said that strengthening the bed capacity is of utmost priority to cater demand in view of probable third wave. “With the science behind the virus itself evolving, on a weekly or a daily basis, it required a lot of learning, re-learning and recalibration processes, thinking and then putting forward our best”, she advised health officials.
Speaking about the Dengue and other vector borne diseases, Ms. Isha Kalia said that hot spots should be identified by MCs so the pre-empt measure can be taken to counter the spread. She also asked MC officials to intensify the fogging drive and the concerned vehicles should be monitored with GPS. She added that Identify vulnerable areas of cholera and diarrhoea as soon as possible and survey and random water sampling should be initiated by joint teams of multi-purpose health workers and concerned MCs in these areas. She specifically mentioned that the drive to sanitize people about corrective measures such as boiling of water and dry days should be observed on a regular basis.
