Lakhimpur Kheri incident :
KMSC in protest burns effigies of Yogi and Modi, demands arrest of BJP Minister and his son
Ferozepur, October 4, 2010: Condemning the tragic incident of killing of farmers protesting peacefully in UP, the farmers under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee s today registered their protest by burning the effigies of Yogi and Modi government demanding immediate arrest of BJP Minister Ajay Mishra Teni and his son Ashish Mishra Teni besides registration of a case under Section 302 and holding an impartial judicial inquiry.
Added here, as many as eight people had died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on Sunday. MoS Teni has refuted the charge as his son was not present at the spot adding that some miscreants mingled with protesting farmers and pelted the stones at the car which lead to the ‘unfortunate incident’.
The farmer leaders also condemned the orders of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar asking the state unit of BJP’s Kissan Morcha to ‘pick up sticks’ and to use ‘tit for tat’ methodology against the protesting farmers and demanded registration of a case against him also.
Farmers have been protesting at different sites since November 26 last year against the three enacted farm laws: Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
