UT health department to take action against South Africa returnee woman for violating quarantine norms
Chandigarh, December 3, 2021:
In view of the Omicron scare in the city, UT health department will take action against a woman, returned from South Africa, for violating the home quarantine norms.
As per the Director Health Services, Chandigarh, a woman was returned from South Africa on December 1 and was home quarantined at her house at Sector 48-B, here. On Thursday, (02.12.2021), she broke the quarantine protocol and checked into Hotel Hyatt Regency at 04.52 pm. Thereafter, she again left the hotel and returned late at night. Her RtPCR report of December 1 was negative and repeat sampling is due on December 8 as per standard protocol.
In view of above, health secretary Yashpal Garg asked the health department that:
a) Immediate strict action may be taken against the lady for violating the quarantine protocol. Further special care is required till the repeat testing of the lady on 08.12.2021 and availability of the report.
b) Suitable instructions may be issued to Police and other concerned authorities to take special caution about the returnees International Travellers from the specified countries at risk.
c) The Hotels/Guest Houses within the UT Chandigarh may be instructed to ascertain travel history of the guests for the last 15 days at time of their check-in.
The Director Health Services has been asked to arrange for the RtPCR test of all the staff of the Hotel Hayat, Chandigarh immediately.
As per the guidelines of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India for International Arrivals, which gave become applicable w.e.f 01.12.2021, the travellers from specified Countries at risk will be tested at the arrival airport and if tested negative, they will follow, home quarantine for seven days. Re-test on the 8th day of arrival in India and if negative, further self-monitor of their health for next seven days.
