Chandigarh, December 20, 2021: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has reacted to the Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi's comment on killings in sacrilege incidents in Amritsar and Kapurthala.
On Monday, Singhvi wrote on Twitter, "Sacrilege is horrendous but lynching in a civilized country is no less horrendous. I request the authorities to take strict action against all who took the law into their hand & make an example out of them."
To which Giani Harpreet Singh said, "We want to tell you that Sikh code of conduct, Sikh religious places, Sikh history, and Guru Granth Sahib Ji were attacked to hurt Sikh sentiments after 1947 and instead of punishing them, efforts were to save accused under government shelter which has hurt Sikhs psychologically."
"More important question is that why did it come to the point where Sangat had to kill? When rule of law fails in providing justice by punishing those who committed sacrilege, what should Sikhs do? The heirs of Sikhs have left the world waiting for justice for the genocide of 84 and the Sikhs are counting the last breaths of their lives, what to do?," he replied in a Facebook post.
