Ferozepur, January 7, 2022:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a demonstration at the DC office here on Friday in protest against the lapse in the Prime Minister's security in Punjab. State and division level party workers of Ferozepur urban and rural assembly constituencies, along with the office bearers of all fronts participated in the protest led by Gurparvez Singh Sandhu, an influential BJP leader from the district. The protesters also burnt an effigy of Charanjit Singh Channi, Chief Minister of Punjab.
Gurparvez Singh Sandhu, former national vice president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and former president of Punjab BJYM, said that when all three agricultural laws were withdrawn, why was there a protest? The protesting farmers were only a handful who were sent by the state government to create trouble. It is noteworthy that Sandhu was responsible for the preparations for the PM's rally and for the last several days he was working day and night for this.
Sandhu further said, “The state government did not pay heed to our apprehensions even once. We had complained about the PM's posters being torn but the administration did not take any action on it. The Prime Minister wanted to give a lot to the small farmers. He was to announce the PGI Center and several development projects. The state and its people have lost it all due to the state government's lapse. Even no officer came out from the DC office to take the memorandum.”
