Patiala, January 30, 2022: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Punjabis will never give a chance to AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal to implement the failed Delhi model in Punjab.
Addressing a gathering at the residence of party’s Patiala Rural constituency candidate Jaspal Singh Bittu Chattha after inducting more than 200 congressmen including Sarpanche, panches and senior leaders into the SAD, Sukhbir Singh Badal said implementing AAP’s Delhi model amounted to charging farmers for supply of power for the agriculture sector and doing away with the free agriculture supply scheme launched by the SAD.
“It also means the supply of power to the domestic and industrial sector at the rate of Rs 13 per unit. Do we want this?” he asked the people adding “now is the time to say no to Kejriwal and prevent him from taking the State back in time”.
Asserting that this was not all, Badal said “Kejriwal has always taken a stand against Punjab on all important issues. He said be it the issue of sharing river waters of Punjab with Haryana and Delhi, closing thermal plants of the State or registering criminal cases against Punjab farmers for burning paddy stubble, Kejriwal had taken a stand against Punjabis on all these issues in the Supreme Court.
The SAD President said the Akali Dal alone was committed to protecting the regional aspirations of the people of the State.
“We are with you today and will remain with you tomorrow also. Kejriwal has only come to Punjab to seek your votes. Once the election process is over he will shift over to some other State”.
He also urged the people not to be taken in by the guarantees being offered by AAP. “What is the guarantee that AAP will even stick together as a party”, he said adding “you have seen how earlier three out of its four MPs and eleven out of its twenty legislators left the party”.
Earlier Badal welcomed senior Congress leader Madan Bhardwaj, Yadwinder Kaur Jassowal Sarpanch Jassowal, Labh Singh former Sarpanch, and more than 200 congressmen into the party fold.
He assured them giving them respect and responsibilities in the party. He said the exodus from Congress proved that it was moving towards complete annihilation in the State.
“Punjabis have lost faith in the Congress party as it deceived them with false promises. Moreover, they are disgusted with the corrupt activities of its legislators who also ran sand and liquor mafias and presided over the deterioration in the law and order situation in the State”.
