Edu Deptt distributes ‘Voters Awareness Book’ to students in Ferozepur Rural schools
Ferozepur, February 10, 2022: The students were encouraged to spread the message of voting in the villages by releasing a ‘Voters Awareness Book’ and crossing all previous records of voting by ensuring massive turnout on polling day, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and local District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Girish Dayalan.
This time, due to the ban on rallies by the political parties to put a check on the transmission of the Covid-19 virus, the stress has been on creating awareness on the social media and through the students, to pass on the message of voting on February 20, by releasing the “Mascot Shera”.
The Voters Awareness Books were distributed among the students for passing on the message in their families and in the village under the guidance of RO-cum-ADC (G) Amit Mahajan at Govt schools of Ferozepur Raul in the Assembly Constituency-77.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahajan said, in the run to the Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has organized a handshake for the Electoral Literacy Club (ELP). Books have been distributed in Nurpur, Ghall Khurd, Mana Singh Wala, Rukna Begu, Talwandi, Mudaki, Shakur, Mamdot, Hazara Singh Wala. He said, such an initiative would also help in preparing the youth to be active partners in the democratic system.
Explaining the importance of giving the message of voting from house to house in the village, he said, the students will explain as to why one’s vote is precious, to strengthen the world’s largest democracy in India. He said the students will also explain what facilities the Election Commission is providing to elderly voters; persons with disability (PwD) voters, women, and especially first-time voters.
