Smart city projects to develop Sultanpur Lodhi as religious tourist destination
DC directs to complete the smart city work on war footing

Deputy commissioner Kapurthala Vishesh Sarangal has asked the officials of concerned departments to ensure the completion of work under the smart city project at Sultanpur Lodhi on war footing so that the holy city to be developed as a religious tourist station besides facilitating lakhs of pilgrims coming to the city to pay obeisance.
On Thursday in a review meeting along with ADC Urban development Anupam Kler , SDM Randeep Singh and other officials, the Deputy commissioner asked them to personally monitor the progress of projects regarding STPs, Safe city, smart schools, 4 lanning of Dadwindi to Sultanpur Lodhi and Sultanpur Lodhi to Mundi Morh road, solar plants installations, preservation of Qila Sarai etc so that the work can be completed in the given time frame.
Talking about the 4 laning of Dadwindi-Sultanpur Lodhi Road to be completed at a cost of Rs. 26.14 crore and Sultanpur Lodhi to Mundi morh 17.40 KM road with cost Rs. 74.11 crore, Deputy Commissioner directed the PWD officials to give these projects a top priority as it would be a boon for lakhs of pilgrims visiting the holy city.
Deputy Commissioner also asked the PSPCL to remove the electricity poles for the widening of roads before monsoon season.
Directing the officials of the sewerage board, the Deputy commissioner instructed them to speed up the STP's work besides putting penalties on the concerned companies for any delay in work. The work on New STP is to be completed by March 2023, he directed.
Talking about the Integrated command control Centre (ICCC) under the safe city project, the Deputy Commissioner has asked the PWD officials to complete the construction work in the next 6 months.
It may be mentioned here that the bid has already been opened for this project, including the installation of CCTVs in the city which will be connected with the centralised control centre to keep an hawk's eye from the security point of view.
Under the smart city Project the 4 smart schools to be established at cost of Rs. 14 crore includes the Government boy school, the Government Girls' school, the Primary school district and the boarding school at Sultanpur Lodhi city. XEN PWD informed that the tender process has been completed and the remaining work is to be started soon.
Talking about the preservation of Qila Sarai, the Deputy commissioner has asked the conservation department to speed up the work as Rs. 28 lakh has already been issued to the department.
Besides that, he also reviewed the work on drinking water ATMs, elaborating on firefighting arrangements and intelligent transport management systems etc.
Prominent amongst present on the occasion included DPRO Subeg Singh, Executive Engineer Sewerage Board GP Singh, Executive Engineer Pawan Kumar, Deputy DEO Bikramjeet Singh, etc.
