Ferozepur, August 19, 2022: In another follow-up in the case of ‘Gangster’ branded on back, now the District and Sessions Judge, Virinder Aggarwal has asked for the status report in the matter.
Earlier, a day after a prisoner Tarsem Singh of Mirzapur village in Kapurthala had accused jail officials of branding him as a criminal by getting the word ‘gangster’ in Punjabi scribbled on his back using a hot iron rod an FIR was registered a case against him for criminal conspiracy.
On the other hand, the SP(Jails) Parvinder Singh had said that more than 15 cases under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act had been registered against Tarsem alias Yodha. He claimed an investigation was held during which the prisoner admitted that he got the inscription done by fellow inmates to implicate jails officials and a video of the prisoner showing his back with ‘gangster’ written one it had gone viral. He calls a frame-up bid. However, the FIR against Tarsem under Section 42 of the Prisons Act has been lodged.
Taking the matter seriously, District and Session Judge discussed the matter with the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and deputed Gagan Goklani Advocate and Para Legal Volunteer Gagandeep Singh to inquiry about the condition of the prisoner by visiting the Central Jail and ask him, if he needed a free legal aid to fight his case, to which he gave his consent.
