CM Mann to attend State-level Martyr’s Day on March 23 at Hussainiwala

Ferozepur 20 March 2023: On March 23, the State –level Martyrdom event, to pay rich and floral tributes will be held at National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala, to remember the men – Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev who shook up the British Raj - which will be attended by Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister, Punjab, along with Cabinet Ministers, and MLAs.
Every year, Martyr’s Day is celebrated at National Martyrs’ Memorial on the banks of Sutlej river where Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were cremated on March 23, 1931. Earlier, they were hanged in Lahore Jail on this day at 7.30 am and since then the celebrations are being held to remember these martyrs. Apart from the retreat ceremony, the visitors also enjoy the simulated train ride between Bommaby and Peshawar and light and sound show in the event at the place of memorial.
A meeting was held at Hussainiwala to review the various pre-arrangements for the event under the tutelage of Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner, which was attended by administrative officers, various heads of the department, army, BSF and police officials to finalize the programme.
DC said, the martyrdom ceremony will be attended by CM Punjab, Cabinet Minister, MLAs. In the meeting the department heads were assigned the various duties of decoration, cleanliness, repairs at the monument and its surroundings and security and parking arrangements, recovery van etc. Health department was specifically asked to make arrangements for health facilities at the venue of the celebrations while transport and railway departments to schedule the time table of the buses to pick and drop the people.
He also instructed all the departmental officials to fulfill the responsibility related to their department with full diligence and honesty for success of the event.
