Bathinda: Another Gurmeet Singh from Khudian village in poll fray

Bathinda 15 May 2024: Besides the official candidate of AAP Gurmeet Singh Khudian another Gurmeet Singh from the same village Khudian is in the poll fray as an Independent candidate from Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency.
On Wednesday, the returning officer approved the nomination paper filed by the independent candidate Gurmeet Singh.
Political observers however claimed that a dummy nominee “Gurmeet Singh who belongs to village Khudian has been fielded to confuse the supporters of AAP candidate Gurmeet Singh Khudian.
Total 40 candidates have filed nominations, 25 has been accepted whereas 15 has been rejected.
In this VIP constituency of Punjab, Harsimrat Kaur Badal of SAD, Gurmeet Singh Khudian of AAP, Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu of Indian National Congress and Param Pal Kaur Sidhu of BJP are in fray as nominees of recognised political parties of India.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal is seeking mandate for her fourth term, whereas others are trying to enter the Lok Sabha for first time. Gurmeet Singh Khudian is a Cabinet Minister in AAP government and Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu four time MLA of Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
Former IAS Param Pal Sidhu has recently left her job to join active politics. She is daughter in law of senior Akali leader Sikander Singh Maluka.
