KMSC condemns hike in power tariff in Punjab, demands to withdraw
Ferozepur, June 15, 2025: Kisan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee (KMSC) Punjab State General Secretary Rana Ranbir condemned the hike in power tariff in Punjab and demanded to immediately withdraw the orders.
Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission has disposed of the petition filed by Power Corporation Limited to fix the tariff rates for the year 2024-25. By increasing electricity tariffs by 12 paise per unit for households and 15 paise per unit for industry, the additional burden placed on the consumers is intolerable, while electricity in Punjab is already more expensive than in other states of the country. The people of Punjab, who are struggling with extreme inflation and the increase in electricity rates by the government will make the people angry.
Kisan Mazdoor Sangarsh demanded from the Punjab government that the hike in electricity rates should be withdrawn immediately; otherwise, the organization would declare a strike.
