Ferozepur police conduct extensive CASO at 14 hotspots ahead of Independence Day

Ferozepur, August 7, 2024: In a proactive measure ahead of the Independence Day celebrations and in a resolute move to make Punjab a drug-free state, the Ferozepur police have executed a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO). ) across 14 identified hotspots and vulnerable areas, focusing on curbing the drug supply at the point of sale. This operation, involving a team of 400 police personnel, aimed at ensuring safety and curbing drug and anti-social activities, targeted strategic locations including railway stations and bus stands.
Ajay Maluja, DIG of Ferozepur Range, who supervised the operation, stated that a categorized list of smugglers had been prepared, and such operations are part of a state-wide initiative to prevent any untoward incidents during the upcoming celebrations. Legal action will be taken against any criminals apprehended during the operation.
SSP Saumya Mishra provided further details, noting that the operation was conducted under the directives of Punjab's Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav. The CASO, supported by sniffer dogs, focused on the railway station and bus stand parking areas, especially monitoring vehicles parked for extended periods. The 14 hotspots were chosen based on the last five years' data on criminal activities, to tackle unscrupulous persons and anti-social elements effectively.
Apart from enforcement, the Ferozepur Police has launched a special campaign against drugs as part of their prevention efforts. This campaign aims to educate the public and garner support in the fight against drugs.
