MLAs hand over financial assistance to 40 children under Mission Vatsalya
Distt-Level Sponsorship and Foster Care Day Celebrated in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 14, 2024: Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman and led by District Program Officer Richika Nanda, a district-level Sponsorship and Foster Care Day was celebrated at Dev Samaj College of Education for Women in Ferozepur as part of the Mission Vatsalya scheme. The event was graced by Ferozepur Rural MLA Rajneesh Dahiya and Guruharsahai MLA Fauja Singh Sarari as chief guests.
During the event, the MLAs highlighted the benefits provided under the Mission Vatsalya scheme, which offers financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per month to eligible children up to 18 years old through the District Child Protection Office. Today, 40 orphaned and underprivileged children received financial aid under this scheme.
Satnam Singh from the Ferozepur District Child Protection Unit provided insights into various schemes offered by the department, including sponsorship, foster care, adoption, prevention of child marriage, child labour, and child begging, as well as awareness about the POCSO Act and the toll-free helpline number 1098.
The chief guests, MLA Rajneesh Dahiya and MLA Fauja Singh Sarari, distributed monthly cheques of Rs.4,000 to the 40 children benefiting from the sponsorship scheme.
The event also featured performances of songs and giddha by students from Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School and Dev Samaj Model Senior Secondary School.
The gathering was attended by SDM Ferozepur Mrs. Charumita, Assistant Labour Commissioner Mustan Singh, District Program Officer Mrs. Richika Nanda, District Child Protection Officer Jaswinder Kaur, Principal Rajvinder Kaur, along with other officials, staff members, and the children’s guardians.
