Railways promote Clean Eating with "Swachh Ahar Diwas" across Ferozepur Division
Ferozepur, 10.10.2024: In line with the "Swachhata Pakhwada" campaign by Indian Railways, running from October 1st to 15th to honour Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a clean India, the Ferozepur Division celebrated "Swachh Ahar Diwas" or "Clean Eating Day" on October 9-10. The initiative involved a comprehensive inspection of food stalls at key railway stations to ensure adherence to hygiene and quality standards, supporting the Swachh Bharat (Clean India) mission.
Railway stations including Ferozepur Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar City, Jalandhar Cantt, Phagwara, Beas, Pathankot Junction, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi, Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra were part of this drive. Officials from the Commerce and Health Departments inspected food stalls, thoroughly examining the quality of items and checking for expired products. They also reviewed vendors' medical certificates to verify compliance with health standards and reminded vendors not to sell expired packaged goods.
The inspection extended to train pantry cars, ensuring passengers receive safe, high-quality food. Feedback on the food quality was collected directly from passengers, adding a participatory element to the campaign and underscoring Indian Railways' commitment to passenger health and cleanliness.
