Ferozepur Police nab two with firearms, ammunition and heroin in major crackdown
Ferozepur, October 11, 2024: In a major crackdown, the Ferozepur Police, under the leadership of SSP Soumya Mishra, arrested two individuals for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in separate operations and heroin recovery and booked under the NDPS Act.
Divulging with the details, SSP Soumya Mishra said, In one case, acting on a tip-off, police teams headed by Randhir Kumar, SP(D), Sukhwinder Singh, DSP, Fateh Singh Brar, DSP(D) along with Mohit Dhawan, Incharge CIA Staff, apprehended Manpreet Singh, son of Darshan Singh, from Dhandu Khurd village. During the search, authorities seized 1.528 kg of heroin and a mobile phone from the motorcycle he was riding, a Hero Splendor with registration number PB 05 AR 2579. In a second operation, police detained Gurjit Singh, son of Surjit Singh, at the Ferozepur Cantt bus stand. Upon searching, police recovered a .30-bore pistol with 32 live rounds, a .315-bore country-made pistol with 10 live rounds, and a mobile phone. He was travelling in a vehicle registered under PB 05 AA 4737.
Both suspects have been charged under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and Arms Act. FIRs have been registered, and investigations are underway to identify any connections to larger criminal networks involved in the illegal arms and narcotics trade.
SSP Soumya Mishra emphasized the Ferozepur Police’s commitment to eradicating illegal activities within the district. She reaffirmed that dedicated teams are actively working on intelligence gathering and operational planning to bring offenders to justice and ensure community safety.
