Who is Noel Tata, new Tata Trusts Chairman?

Mumbai, October 11, 2024: Noel Tata has been appointed as the chairman of Tata Trusts, succeeding his half-brother Ratan Tata, who served as the esteemed chairman of Tata Group for decades and Chairman Tata Trust till now,
Noel Tata, son of Naval Tata and Simone Tata, now steps into this pivotal role at a time of great change within the Tata Group and its associated trusts.
He has been involved in the family business for 40 years and already holds a key position in the company, making him the likely successor.Born in December 1957 to Noel Tata and Simone N Tata, a French-Swiss Catholic, Noel Tata is the half-brother of Ratan Tata.
He holds a degree from Sussex University (UK) and has completed the International Executive Programme (IEP) at INSEAD.
Noel Tata's most prominent role before this new appointment was as Managing Director of Tata International Ltd, the group's trading and distribution arm.
He also served as a trustee on the board of Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, which together comprise over 50 percent of the ownership of Tata Sons. These two trusts are the administrative wings and can mutually appoint people to Tata Trust.
He was the Managing Director of Tata International Limited from August 2010 to November 2021, during which the company’s turnover increased from $500 million to over $3 billion. He was also the key person who led to the expansion of Trent Limited from one store in 1998 to 700 stores at present.
