Accused Lavish Grover Reveals Fake Drug Unit and Accomplice During Interrogation
SAS Nagar, March 26, 2025:
In continuation of the ongoing campaign, Yudh Nasheya Virudh, the District SAS Nagar Police achieved a significant breakthrough by uncovering a fake drug unit involved in producing spurious steroids and supplements in Zirakpur, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Pareek announced during a media briefing.
Providing details, SSP Pareek said that on March 21, 2025, the police arrested accused Lavish Grover from Flat No. 12 C, Shiva Enclave near Singhpura, Zirakpur, following a brief encounter. When the police approached his residence, Grover fired three rounds from his pistol, resulting in retaliatory fire from the police that injured his leg.
During a subsequent search of his flat, a police team led by SHO Zirakpur, Jaskamal Singh Sekhon, recovered 400 grams of opium, ₹2.5 lakh in drug money, illegal weapons, and ammunition. Upon further interrogation, Grover disclosed that he had handed over some opium and an illegal weapon to his accomplice, Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Shere village in Sangrur District.
Acting on this information, the police arrested Gurpreet Singh (28) from Flat H-168, Orbit Apartment, Opposite Triple C Mall on VIP Road, Zirakpur. The arrest led to the recovery of 800 grams of opium and a .32 bore pistol with two magazines and 12 live cartridges.
The SSP further revealed that based on additional information from the accused, the police discovered a fake drugs and supplements manufacturing unit at Flat 9-A, Shiva Enclave. The unit contained 1,24,600 tablets, 1,75,000 injection vials, and five types of packing and filling machinery. The seized drugs, consisting of 35 types of anabolic steroids misused for bodybuilding, have been handed over to Drug Control Officers for further investigation under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
Detailing the recovery from Lavish Grover, SSP Pareek reported the seizure of a 30 MM pistol with a magazine and four live cartridges, a Glock 9 MM pistol with a magazine and two live cartridges, a 12-bore double-barrel gun with 16 live cartridges, and three luxury vehicles — an Audi (CH01-AQ-1200), a Mercedes (DL-3CBU-2828), and a Peugeot (UP16-AB-0890).
SSP Pareek added that Grover has a criminal history with 10 FIRs registered against him for crimes under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, the Arms Act, and other offenses in SBS Nagar, Ludhiana, and SAS Nagar districts. He is currently receiving treatment at the Civil Hospital in Derabassi. The police are now investigating the backward and forward linkages of both accused to uncover further details about their illegal operations.
