Punjab Police Achieve Major Breakthrough in Gangster Crackdown
Chandigarh, May 8, 2025: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police, in a joint operation with SAS Nagar Police, apprehended Harjinder Singh, a key associate of foreign-based gangster Rajesh Kumar, alias Sonu Khatri. The arrest marks a significant step in dismantling gangster networks with cross-border linkages.
Harjinder Singh was wanted for his involvement in an armed attack on rival gang members at "Future Heights" in Kharar. Preliminary investigations reveal that he was receiving direct instructions from his overseas handler and was actively planning a high-profile crime in Punjab.
The operation led to the recovery of one .30 bore pistol with four live cartridges and two .32 bore pistols with ten live cartridges. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the network and establish its connections.
This arrest underscores Punjab Police's ongoing efforts to curb organized crime and maintain law and order in the state.
