Breaking: Minister Sanjeev Arora announces formation of 15 more sectoral committees, updates on Halwara Airport

Chandigarh, August 5, 2025: Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora addressed the media today and announced key developments in the state’s industrial sector.
Arora revealed that the state government is progressing with the formation of 15 final sector-specific committees—up from the previously established nine—with a focus on driving growth and innovation in industries such as Information Technology, Bicycles, Electronics, Renewable Energy, Pharmaceuticals, and Electric Vehicles.
The minister also shared the names of the newly appointed chairpersons for these committees, who include:
Partap Aggarwal, Onkar Singh Bawa, Paritosh Garg, Inderbir Singh, Ashish Kumar, Sachit Jain, Abhi Bansal, Ashwani Nayar, Dinesh Aulakh, Virender Gupta, Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Dr. Bishav Mohan, Mamta Bhardwaj, Umang Jindal, and Kamaljit Singh.
Each committee has been tasked with submitting feedback and recommendations to the government by October 1.
In addition, Minister Arora reiterated the benefits of the land pooling scheme, stating that it will bring significant advantages to farmers by ensuring better land use and higher returns.
On the much-anticipated Halwara International Airport, Arora clarified that the inauguration was delayed due to a technical issue, but assured that the airport will be formally inaugurated within the coming week.
The minister emphasized the state’s commitment to creating a robust ecosystem for industrial development, adding that these steps are part of Punjab’s broader push toward economic modernization and investment facilitation.
