Gurdaspur (Punjab), August 11, 2025: Panic gripped a market area in Gurdaspur on Monday morning after a masked bike-borne assailant opened fire at Khaira Medical Store in broad daylight.
The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the shop’s front glass was shattered. The attacker fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Medical store owner Dr. Harjit Singh said he had just opened the shop as usual when a masked man on a Splendor motorcycle approached from the Wadala Bangar adda side. The assailant stopped on the road and fired two to three shots towards the shop, hitting the front glass directly.
Hearing the gunshots, nearby shopkeepers and locals rushed to the spot. Police arrived promptly and launched an investigation, scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprit.
The incident has raised fresh security concerns in the locality, especially since the nearby Wadala Bangar police station had previously been targeted in a grenade attack. Authorities are probing the matter in detail.
